General principles

Across every app we publish, we will never sell your personal data, and we will never collect more than an app's section below says it does. If an app collects no data, that means we have nothing about you to lose, share, or misuse - not just a promise not to misuse it.

If a future update to an app changes what it collects, we will update that app's section below and revise the effective date at the top of this page.

Cequen DSP

Cequen DSP is an Android app that works across any device. It has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs, and it does not send any data to us or to anyone else.

What the app stores, and where

Cequen DSP stores your equalizer settings, presets, and adaptive-processing preferences locally on your device only (in the app's private storage), so it can restore them the next time you drive or use your device. We have no server for this app, so this data is never transmitted to us, and we never see it. Uninstalling the app removes this data from your device; we have no way to access, back up, or restore it, because it never leaves your device.

Permissions the app uses

Cequen DSP requests only the permissions it needs to do its job as an audio processor: permission to modify system audio settings and to run a foreground service that keeps your equalizer and DSP active while you drive or use your device. These permissions let the app process and control audio on your device; they do not give the app, or us, access to your personal information, contacts, location, or any other data unrelated to audio.

Third parties

Cequen DSP includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs, and shares no data with any third party.

Cequen TripPlan

Cequen TripPlan is an EV trip-planning app for Android phones and Android Automotive OS. It requires an account so your trips, vehicles, and settings sync across your own devices, and with the people you choose to share a vehicle with.

Signing in

Cequen TripPlan requires signing in to use it, and we support only Google Sign-In - there is no separate Cequen username or password to create. We never see, collect, or store a password of any kind. Google handles authentication entirely; once you sign in, we receive your Google account identifier, email address, and display name. We use them to recognize your account, and your name and email are shown to the other drivers of any vehicle you share.

When a new account is created, the app also asks Google Play to confirm that it's a genuine copy of the app on a genuine device (Google Play Integrity), to stop automated sign-ups. We keep the result of that check with your account. It says nothing about you beyond whether the check passed.

What we store, and why

• Saved trips - name, origin, destination, any waypoints, and the vehicle the trip is for, so you can reopen a planned trip later or on another device.
• Vehicles - name, battery capacity, efficiency, reserve charge, typical speeds, and charging settings (networks, plug types, charger speeds, dealer chargers, minimum stalls, detour distance, and charge levels), so route and charging estimates match the vehicle.
• What the vehicle reports about itself - on Android Automotive OS, with your permission, the app reads the vehicle's make, model, model year, and battery capacity and saves them with the vehicle. It can also read the battery's current charge to fill in the vehicle's departure charge. It reads outside temperature for planning, but that stays on the vehicle and isn't sent to us.
• Vehicle photo - only if you add one. Before it's uploaded, the app shrinks it to a small image (at most 50 KB) and removes the information stored inside the photo, including where it was taken.
• Drivers and invitations - who drives each vehicle, and its join code. If you invite someone by email, we keep that email address until they accept or decline, so we can show them the invitation when they sign in to Cequen TripPlan or Cequen TripKeeper.
• Efficiency from Cequen TripKeeper - if you link a vehicle's efficiency to a TripKeeper logging entry, TripPlan uses that entry's distance and energy totals to work out the efficiency.
• Personal settings - units of measurement and how many charging stops are sent to Google Maps at once.
• Usage records - the days you use the app, when and how often you've signed in, and how many trips you've planned, so we can run the free-trip allowance and count active users.

Recent destinations and your map settings are kept on your device only. Everything above is tied to your Google account and used only to run the app. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't sell it.

Shared vehicles

A vehicle is shared with everyone who drives it. Each driver can see and change the vehicle's settings and photo, and sees the other drivers' names and email addresses. When a vehicle's efficiency is linked to a TripKeeper logging entry, every driver sees that entry's name and totals. Anyone with a vehicle's join code can add themselves as a driver, so share it only with people you want driving it.

Location and the services that plan your route

To plan a trip, the app uses your device's location as the starting point (with your permission), and sends the trip's coordinates to the services that plan it:

• Through our server - routes and traffic from Stadia Maps, address search from Stadia Maps (what you type into search, with your current location so nearby places come first), and charging stations from Open Charge Map and the US Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Data Center. These requests carry coordinates and search text only, not your account. We may keep a response briefly so the same lookup isn't repeated, but we don't save it to your account.
• Directly from your device - map images from Stadia Maps (which shows Stadia Maps the area of the map you're viewing), the place name for your current location from OpenStreetMap's Nominatim (and address search, only if our server can't be reached), weather along the route from the US National Weather Service, and elevation along the route from OpenTopoData. Like any website, these services see your device's IP address, but not your account.
• Navigation - when you tap Navigate, the route is handed to Google Maps on your device, and Google's own privacy policy applies from there.

We don't store your location on our server, except as part of a trip you choose to save.

Subscriptions and billing

Cequen TripPlan is free to try, then requires a paid subscription to keep planning trips. Every subscription is transacted entirely through Google Play, not us - as a result, we never see, collect, or store your credit card number, billing address, or any other payment information. We don't even have access to it; it's retained by Google. We only ever receive confirmation from Google that your subscription is active and when it renews, so the app can check your access. On Android Automotive OS, where a purchase can't be completed on the vehicle's own screen, subscribing still happens through Google Play on your phone - never through us directly.

Diagnostics - on by default, always under your control

Cequen TripPlan has a separate Diagnostics setting, currently on by default so we can catch and fix problems - including with brand-new app versions - before they affect many people. You can turn it off at any time in the app's Settings. With it off, nothing described in this section is collected going forward - not even a plain crash report.

While it's on, the app sends us crash reports and basic operational checkpoints (for example, whether a route-planning request succeeded) when they happen, so we can actually diagnose a problem instead of guessing at it. Each one is sent with non-identifying device context - your device's manufacturer and model, Android version, screen size, app version, language, and connection type (Wi‑Fi, cellular, etc., never a network name). If you're signed in at the time, we also attach your account email, so a report can be matched to your account if you contact us about it - that's the one exception to everything else in this section being non-identifying. We deliberately don't collect your location, trip origin or destination, or any saved trip or vehicle name through Diagnostics; it's about how the app is behaving, not where you're going.

This data is visible only to our own support and engineering team, used only to find and fix problems, and never sold or shared with any third party. Turn Diagnostics off at any time and we stop collecting immediately; deleting your account (below) also deletes any diagnostic reports already tied to your email.

How long we keep it

• Your trips, vehicles, settings, and usage records are kept until you delete them or your account.
• When a vehicle's owner deletes it, the vehicle and everything saved with it (its trips, photo, drivers, and invitations, and its TripKeeper drives) are kept for 30 days so it can be restored, then erased.
• When you leave a vehicle someone else owns, it stays for its other drivers.
• Deleting your account deletes your trips, settings, usage records, diagnostic reports, invitations sent to your email, and your Cequen TripKeeper data, and removes you from every vehicle. A vehicle only you drive is deleted with its photo; one that others drive stays with them.

View or delete your data, any time

Sign in at cequen.com/my-account at any time to see what Cequen TripPlan has saved for your account - your trips, your vehicles with their settings, photos, and drivers - and delete it yourself, with no need to contact us: a single trip, a vehicle (restorable for 30 days), a vehicle photo, or your entire account and everything attached to it.

Who handles your data

Your data is stored on Microsoft Azure in the United States, which runs our servers for us. Google provides sign-in, subscriptions, and the Play Integrity check. The route-planning services listed above receive trip coordinates, not your account. Apart from these, we share nothing with any third party.

Cequen TripKeeper

Cequen TripKeeper is a trip and energy-use tracker for Android Automotive OS. You don't need an account to use it. Without one, your drives stay on your vehicle and nothing about them is sent to us. Only two things send data: signing in, to back up your drives and see them on the web, and Diagnostics, which is on by default and which you can turn off, described below.

Signing in

Signing in uses Google Sign-In only, the same as Cequen TripPlan, and the same account - we never see, collect, or store a password of any kind. If you already have a Cequen account from TripPlan, signing in to TripKeeper with the same Google account links to it; we don't create a second, separate account per app.

What we store, and why

Once you're signed in, TripKeeper periodically uploads data for each drive:

• Distance and energy use - so your trip history and lifetime performance reports sync across your own devices.
• Location - only if you turn on Share Location in the app (off by default). Used to improve the accuracy of range estimates in Cequen TripPlan for the roads and conditions you actually drive.
• Outside temperature and battery level - read from the vehicle when available, so each drive's report shows the conditions and charge it was driven in.
• App version - which version of TripKeeper uploaded each drive, so we can trace a problem to the build that caused it.

We don't use this data for advertising, and we don't sell, share, or disclose it to any third party. Your location (and the altitude that comes with it) is never sent unless you've turned on Share Location.

Diagnostics - on by default, always under your control

TripKeeper has a Diagnostics setting, on by default so we can find and fix problems on your vehicle without first asking you to turn it on. You can turn it off at any time in the app's Account screen. While it's on, the app sends us crash reports and basic operational checkpoints, with your device's make and model, Android version, screen size, app version, language, and connection type, plus your account email if you're signed in. It also records, for each drive, which vehicle readings your car makes available to apps and how TripKeeper's distance and energy figures compare with each other. It doesn't send your location. Turn it off at any time and we stop collecting immediately.

View or delete your data, any time

Sign in at cequen.com/my-account with the same Google account to see every trip TripKeeper has synced for your account - distance, energy, and efficiency - and delete your account and all of it, any time, with no need to contact us.

Third parties

Cequen TripKeeper doesn't call any third-party APIs itself and shares no data with any third party.

Terms of Use

By downloading, installing, or using any app we publish, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use our apps on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. We (and our licensors, where applicable) retain all ownership and intellectual property rights in the app itself - this license doesn't transfer any of that to you. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from our apps, except where applicable law gives you that right despite this restriction.

Eligibility

Our apps are built around driving, so a minor who's legally permitted to drive under their jurisdiction's laws (for example with a valid permit or license) is expected to use them. If you're a minor, you confirm you have a parent or guardian's permission to use the app, and they're responsible for your use of it and your compliance with these terms. We don't verify any user's age, driving eligibility, or license status - it's your responsibility, or your parent or guardian's, to make sure any driver using an app is legally permitted to drive and follows whatever restrictions apply to them, including graduated-license rules and any limits on phone or in-vehicle device use while driving.

Acceptable use

Use our apps only for their intended purpose and in compliance with applicable law. Don't use them to violate anyone's rights, disrupt or reverse-engineer the service, or interfere with other users.

Accounts and security

Cequen TripPlan and Cequen TripKeeper require signing in with your Google account. You're responsible for everything that happens under your account, including anything done by someone else who has access to your signed-in device. Keep your device and Google account secure, and email development@cequen.com if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission. Anything you enter into an app - a vehicle's specs, trip details, or anything else - should be accurate to the best of your knowledge; we rely on it to run the app and don't independently verify it.

Shared vehicles

Cequen TripPlan, Cequen TripKeeper, and any other app we build on the same account system share a single vehicle record, so a vehicle you add in one is the same vehicle in the others. A vehicle's join code lets anyone who has it add themselves as a driver with full access to that vehicle's settings, photo, and shared trip data - share a join code only with people you want to have that access, and remove a driver once that's no longer the case. We're not responsible for a driver sharing that access or a join code further, or for the accuracy of anything another driver enters about a shared vehicle (including its battery capacity or efficiency), even where it affects your own trip or range estimates. A dispute between drivers of a shared vehicle is between them; we're not a party to it and aren't liable for its outcome.

No warranty

Our apps are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your expectations.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our apps. Our total liability for any claim relating to an app is limited to the amount you paid for that app. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of an app, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any right of another person - including another driver of a vehicle you share.

Third-party services

Our apps depend on services we don't control, including Google Sign-In and Google Play Billing, and the services that plan routes, geocode addresses, and provide charging-station or map data (see each app's section above for which ones). We're not responsible for those services' availability or accuracy, or for any change they make to their own terms or pricing.

Termination

This license ends automatically if you stop using the app or uninstall it. We may also suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of an app will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

General terms

This Terms of Use section, together with the Privacy Policy above, is the entire agreement between you and us about your use of our apps, and supersedes any earlier version. If any part of it is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver of it. If you send us feedback or a feature suggestion, we can use it without any obligation or payment to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as we add apps or features. We'll revise the effective date above when we do; continuing to use an app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Cequen DSP

Cequen DSP adjusts audio playback on your device. If you use it in a vehicle, use it only when it's safe and legal to do so, and never in a way that distracts you from driving - its interactive screens are designed to stay out of the way while you're on the move. You remain responsible for using the app safely and at appropriate volume levels.

Cequen TripPlan

Cequen TripPlan suggests routes and charging stops based on the data available to it, but trip and range planning depends on many factors we don't control and can't fully predict - your vehicle's efficiency and condition, your driving speed and style, weather, temperature, terrain, traffic, and the real-time availability and working condition of charging stations along your route. We don't guarantee you'll reach any suggested stop, or your destination, with the range the app estimates, and we're not liable for the consequences of running short - including any cost, delay, towing, or damage that results. You're responsible for monitoring your vehicle's actual state of charge and adjusting your plans accordingly, for independently verifying a charging stop is available and working before you rely on it, and for using the app's interactive screens only when it's safe and legal to do so while driving.

Cequen TripPlan's subscription is billed, renewed, and canceled entirely through Google Play, not us - we don't issue refunds directly; Google Play's own refund policy applies. We'll give reasonable notice before a price change takes effect for existing subscribers. If your subscription lapses, trip planning pauses but your saved trips and vehicles aren't deleted - deleting your data is always something you choose, from the app or from your account page.

Cequen TripKeeper

Cequen TripKeeper's trip and energy-use figures are computed from your vehicle's own sensor data and are provided for informational purposes - we don't guarantee their accuracy, and they may differ from your vehicle's built-in trip computer or odometer. You're responsible for using the app's screens only when it's safe and legal to do so while driving.
